The Polish Pharmaceutical Inspectorate hosts an international meeting of WGEO experts

On May 28-30, 2025, the 37th meeting of the Working Group on Counterfeit Medicinal Products (WGEO) at the Heads of Medicines Agencies took place in Warsaw. The meeting was attended by representatives of institutions responsible in European countries for pharmaceutical supervision, counteracting drug abuse and international exchange of information between institutions. The meeting was attended by experts from over 50 institutions from countries including the EU, EEA, and Switzerland.

- WGEO meetings are an extremely important part of building pharmaceutical safety in Europe. The group's activities involve the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Commission, the Council of Europe - EDQM, WHO, INTERPOL, Europol and the Institute for Pharmaceutical Safety. The meeting in Warsaw was an opportunity to present the achievements of the Polish Pharmaceutical Inspection and to exchange experience in detecting and preventing pharmaceutical crime. This is an important example of how we are expanding our competences and acquiring knowledge to better ensure the safety of Poland and Europe," said Łukasz Pietrzak, Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector.

The meeting, organized by the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, became an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, experience, and strengthen cooperation between foreign organizations, as well as important Polish institutions, which guard the safety of medicines for patients in Poland. The meeting was attended by, among others, experts from the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, POLADA and the Police, who shared Polish experiences and successes in combating the phenomenon of counterfeit medicines.
