Common GMP standards and international cooperation - these are the foundations of the global network named The Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S). The 57th meeting of the PIC/S Committee in Hong Kong was attended by representatives of the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate Łukasz Pietrzak and Marcin Rynkiewicz.

Poland at the PIC/S forum - common GMP standards and global cooperation

The PIC/S Committee meets at least twice a year to ensure that the GMP inspection system operates consistently and effectively worldwide. It updates and develops good manufacturing practice standards, promotes cooperation between inspectorates and standardises the approach to inspections by exchanging experience and conducting joint training of inspectors. The Committee also deals with the admission of new members, develops guidelines for specific areas of production, ensures the harmonisation of standards on a global level and carries out organisational tasks such as approving its budget and electing its executive bodies.

The Committee’s meeting was followed by a two-day seminar on 'Advanced technologies in pharmaceutical manufacturing'. During the meeting, an international group of inspectors and experts discussed the latest developments and trends in the pharmaceutical sector, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), continuous manufacturing and point-of-care manufacturing. Around 160 inspectors from nearly 50 regulatory agencies attended the seminar. Poland was represented by Dorota Osiecka and Sebastian Mielcarek from the Inspection Department of the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate.
