Oncological Prevention in Autumn at CPI

The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (CPI) is taking part in activities aimed at raising awareness of cancer prevention. We encourage you to follow CPI's social media channels throughout October and November 2025.

Oncological Prevention in Autumn at CPI

International data – including reports from the American Cancer Society (SEER) – show that for breast cancer detected at an early stage, the five-year survival rate reaches 99%. This highlights the crucial importance of early detection and prevention.

Graphics and information will be published on the Office’s social media channels under the slogan “Your hands have power.” The campaign emphasizes that the simplest and most accessible diagnostic tool is self-examination of the breasts and testicles – often the first step in detecting warning signs.

“When it comes to preventative care, there is still a common internal barrier to examination or a fear of diagnosis. These are natural emotions, but they can delay the moment when quick and effective treatment is still possible. We want to remind everyone that in many cases, early screening saves lives and gives a chance for full recovery.
It is worth remembering that, in addition to specialized tests, we have at our disposal the simplest diagnostic tool that each of us always has with us – our own hands. Regular self-examination of the breasts or testicles makes it possible to notice alarming changes at a very early stage. This is the first and most fundamental step in health care – it costs nothing, takes only a moment, and could save a life,” emphasizes Olga Sierpniowska, Director of the CPI Office.

Cancer prevention is not only an individual responsibility but also a key element of the healthcare system. Pharmacists play an important role in this system as the professionals closest to patients. They support health education, encourage screening, and – if a patient reports concerning symptoms – indicate the need for urgent medical consultation.

It is important to rely on trustworthy sources when seeking information on preventive measures. One such source is the Ministry of Health’s oncology portal: https://onkologia.gov.pl/
