On 5 September 2016, the General Director for Environmental Protection launched an ICT system to keep a register of imminent threats to the environment and environmental damage cases, and a register of historical pollution of the earth’s surface, available at registry.gdos.gov.pl.

With the ICT system, environmental protection authorities and environmental protection inspection authorities will gain direct access to all data contained in the register of imminent threats to the environment and environmental damage cases (in accordance with Article 26a(5) of the Act of 13 April 2007 on the prevention and remedying of environmental damage). They also have access to all data contained in the register of historical pollution of the earth’s surface (in accordance with Article 101c(10) of the Act of 27 April 2001 – Environmental Protection Law).

Environmental protection authorities and environmental protection inspection authorities that request the General Director for Environmental Protection for access to the registers, should include the following information in their applications:

• name of the requesting authority,
• name of the voivodeship and poviat (in the case of poviat authorities), name of the voivodeship, poviat and commune (in the case of commune authorities),
• name of the register to which the authority requests access,
• name and surname, e-mail address and telephone number of the person authorized by the authority to access the registers,
• mailing address.

NOTE: If the application is signed by a person authorized by the authority, it is requested to attach to the application the document authorizing the signatory to act on behalf of the authority.

Data relating to other natural and legal persons is disclosed on request, in accordance with the law on access to information.
