What is EMAS?
The eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS) is an EU environmental certification scheme that operates under Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2009 on the voluntary participation by organizations in a Community eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS).
EMAS is addressed to all types of organizations interested in implementing comprehensive solutions in the area of environmental protection, both representatives of companies and non-commercial institutions.
It is a useful tool for developing a culture of sustainable development in organizations and for the effective management of available resources and energy. The requirements of EMAS provide guidelines that organizations follow to organize their obligations in the area of environmental protection, optimize the costs they incur, and efficiently manage energy and resources. EMAS is also a reliable system for reporting the environmental impact of an organization, which facilitates an open dialogue with stakeholders.
Registration in EMAS means that the organization meets the most stringent environmental protection requirements. It is the prestige of being in the group of companies that conduct their business in accordance with the idea of sustainable development. Prestige confirmed by a certificate granted by the General Director for Environmental Protection.
