19.06.2020

Due to the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Polish families will receive additional support. The families shall receive a tourist voucher in the amount of PLN 500 per each child to spend on summer or winter holidays in Poland. In the case of families raising children with disabilities - an additional PLN 500 - these will be the effects of the draft Act submitted to the Polish Sejm by President Andrzej Duda. This is the implementation of the President’s announcement of support for families with children due to the coronavirus epidemic. The first reading of the Act on the Polish Tourist Voucher was held today in the Chamber.

  • The benefit may be used until March of 2022.
  • The voucher may be used to pay for, e.g.: hotel stay, boarding house, agritourism farm, organised group holidays for children, as well as for scout, sports or recreation camp.

- The tourist voucher provides an assistance for Polish families and Polish tourism. It is addressed to all families with children, regardless of their income, just as in the case of the 500 Plus Programme - says Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz.

She adds:

– We also give the possibility to use the voucher until March of 2022. In the next month, the rights will also cover new-born children. We assume that the children who are born until the end of 2021 will acquire these rights and that their parents will be able to use the voucher until March of 2022.

- In accordance with the draft Act on the Polish Tourist Voucher submitted by the Polish President Andrzej Duda to the Polish Sejm, it shall cover all persons who have acquired the rights to the 500+ benefit or the supplement, indicated in Article 80, item 1(a), Article 113(a) or Article 115, item 2(a) of the Act of June 9th, 2011 on Family Support and Foster Care System, as well as those who will acquire the rights until December 31st of 2021 - explains the Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of Poland Anna Surówka-Pasek.

She adds:

– Children with disabilities shall be covered by an additional benefit in the form of a voucher based on the declaration of the person entitled to such benefit submitted through the on-line system, confirming that the child holds a disability certificate. The value of the Polish Tourist Voucher, similarly to the value of the additional benefit in the form of a voucher for children with disabilities will amount to PLN 500.

The head of the Social Insurance Institution Gertruda Uścińska states:

– We are working on the tourist voucher to be used in Poland in the holiday period. The Social Insurance Institution was asked to provide a wide technological and IT support for that project, due to our vast experience in successful implementation of vast IT projects. We are carrying out preparations to handle the task.

– The list of businesses which accept the Polish Tourist Voucher will be available on the website of the Polish Tourist Organisation. All businesses will be verified by the employees of the Polish Tourist Organisation. Our tasks will also include promoting the Voucher as well as the initiatives related to it - says Robert Andrzejczyk, the president of the Polish Tourist Organisation.

Large families and parents who raise children with disabilities will gain the most; benefit - independent of their income

The co-financing for summer or winter holidays will be awarded to nearly 2.4 million families. 1.9 million families, i.e. almost 80 percent raises two or more children, and those families shall receive a benefit of PLN 1000 or more. In total, over 6 million children will be able to use the benefit.

The Voucher is addressed to all families with children, regardless of their income, just as in the case of the 500 Plus Programme. The benefit granted solely on the basis of number of children is simpler, cheaper and quickly reaches the beneficiaries.

Using the Voucher in practice - step by step

  1. If you meet the criteria, you will receive the Voucher after registering on the Social Insurance Institution’s Electronic Services Platform (PUE ZUS). The system allows for an easy registration, for instance, using the Trusted Profile, qualified electronic signature as well as some electronic banking systems.
  2. Your voucher will be activated in the IT system after you confirm your data.
  3. You will need to present the voucher upon booking your stay or at the latest, upon arrival to your holiday accommodation. Please remember - the programme only covers domestic trips.
  4. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the programme, you will be able to use a dedicated helpline. It will aid tourists, as well as the representatives of the tourism industry.
