19.10.2016

During a special meeting in the Presidential Palace, the Social Dialogue Council summed up a year of its activity. Member of the Council, Minister Elżbieta Rafalska, participating in the meeting, summing up a year of work of the Council, which at that time was supervised by the head of NSZZ “Solidarność,” Piotr Duda, emphasised its high level and said that she was hoping that it would be maintained during the term of office of Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Polish Confederation Lewiatan.

“The Social Dialogue Council is an extremely important body, needed in the Polish state,” said President Andrzej Duda. “I am immensely pleased that the Social Dialogue Council is working in a very intensive and useful way.140 meetings of the Council were held this year.”

The Social Dialogue Council replaced the tripartite commission. In addition to trade unions, the Council includes representatives of employers and the government. The President of Poland and the Presidents of the NBP and the Central Statistical Office of Poland also have their representatives as non-voting members. The Chair of the SDC changes each year – they are, alternatively, representatives of trade unions, employers and the government.
