We count on the cooperation of the UKSW and the Ministry of Family

02.03.2016

“I hope for closer cooperation within our competence between the Cardinal Wyszyński University and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy,” said Minister Elżbieta Rafalska, opening the 2nd International Scientific Conference ”Social work in the 21st century. Poverty. Work. Health,” which took place on 2 March.

“I am counting on the scientific conclusions which I want to draw from in my work.”

The purpose of the conference was the meeting and dialogue of representatives of various disciplines studying processes, phenomena and issues related to poverty, work and health, occurring in Poland and in the world. The organiser – Department of Theory and Methods of Social Work of the Institute of Sociology of the UKSW – invited social workers, sociologists, social politicians, educators, economists and representatives of other sciences interested in this subject.

“The conference is taking place in a moment important to my ministry,” said Minister Rafalska in her speech. “The Act on state aid in raising children opens up a new perspective in all the issues that are the subject of the conference. Expectations of families and social workers will collide with new reality. The level of poverty of Polish families, especially large families and families with children with disabilities, will also decrease. The beneficiaries will be rural families and families from small towns, where as much as PLN 11 billion will go, in particular, to families with one child which meet the criteria.”
