09.05.2019

Co-financing for the creation or equipping of 99 new centres and co-financing for the functioning of 21 existing ones – this is the result of an additional recruitment of offers as part of this year's edition of the "Senior+" program. – As planned, by the end of the year in Poland, there will be a total of over 800 "Senior+" centres. As early as in 2015, there were only 99 "Senior+" centres across the country providing space for 2,772 people. According to recent estimates, at the end of 2019, there will be over 800 such centres in Poland.

In the first call for proposals, the results of which we met in February, 243 houses and clubs received the funding for setting up or equipping the centres, in which 5,600 places for the elderly can be found. Co-financing for operation was given to 421 already existing facilities providing 11,000 places.

Today, after the second recruitment, another 99 centres will be added to this list with funding for creation or equipment – 19 Day care houses (co-financing 5,044,740.4 PLN) and 80 Clubs (PLN 9,821,674.36). The number of planned places is 2,079. Another 21 existing centres (10 Day care houses and 11 Clubs) will receive co-financing for activities (PLN 707,504.83 and PLN 302,499.82, respectively). The total amount of funding in the second call is PLN 15,876,413.42.

– I am delighted that we can support local governments in creating and running "Senior+" Houses and Clubs. In such places, elder people can take part in culinary workshops, sports activities, learn how to use a computer and the Internet. They also gain access to therapeutic care and rehabilitation, a warm meal in good company – these are just some of the elements making up that "Senior+" centres are places that are so needed and exceptional – says Minister Elżbieta Rafalska.

In total, to support the creation and running of "Senior+" centres as part of this year's program, local governments will receive PLN 78,452,813.32 – PLN 52,948,031.75 for the creation of new and PLN 25,504,781.57 for co-financing of existing houses and clubs.
