Changes in trade restrictions as of January

28.12.2018

As of the beginning of the new year we are going to face changes in the act on limitation of trade on Sundays and holidays and some other days. Soon, shopping will be possible only on the last Sunday of the month and not, as it has been so far, on the first and last.

Niedziele

Apart from the last Sunday in a month, the ban on trade will also not apply to – as it was in the year 2018 – two consecutive Sundays before the first day of Christmas and on Sunday directly preceding the first day of Easter.

Furthermore, the Seym has been working on a bill of amendment to the act on limitation of trade on Sundays and holidays and some other days, which is aimed at ordering and clarifying some provisions, as well as introducing several important changes. It refers to the fact that, among others, selling tobacco as the prevailing activity will not constitute a reason of excluding trade from the ban.
